Quarantine

QPS Quarantine Facilities

We are a family owned business dedicated to reuniting pets with their families in New Zealand. We provide a comfortable stay for all our furry friends, giving them ‘a home away from home’ in our facilities. We take a great deal of care and pride in our work, and will ensure that our staff will cater to you and your pets' needs.

Kennels

Our furry friends in quarantine have a spacious kennel, consisting of a heated sleeping and eating area with a covered exercise area allowing fresh New Zealand air and light into their kennel.

In our experience, we find that dogs thrive with fresh air and light in their kennels.

Our dedicated staff are in the kennels throughout the day hanging out, playing or cuddling with the dogs. The large outdoor area is the perfect place to play fetch!

Due to Biosecurity regulations, all dogs must stay in their kennels for the duration of their quarantine stay.

Feeding

We feed our dogs Royal Canin dry food with a selection of wet food, ranging from Butch Dog Roll to My Dog.

We understand that some dogs may have special dietary requirements, so we ask that you can give us plenty of notice to arrange and acquire the food for your dog. If the food is not available in NZ, we may need extra time to source appropriate alternatives.

Vaccinations

We require all dogs to have the following vaccinations to be done no longer than 12 months prior to export or less than 14 days prior to their arrival into NZ:

  • Distemper
  • Parvovirus
  • Hepatitis
  • Adenovirus 2
  • Parainfluenza
  • Leptospirosis
  • Bordetella (Kennel Cough)
  • Canine Influenza - for dogs out of USA, Canada only

Visiting/Updates during Quarantine

As of the 1st June 2018, there will no longer be quarantine visiting.

We do understand that this can be quite upsetting. Our dedicated staff will ensure your pets have a comfortable and enjoyable time in quarantine. We treat each pet as our own, spending a lot of time with them, whether it be playing with toys, having treats and of course lots of cuddles. We visit each pet regularly and are firm believers that all pets require a lot of stimulation, love and treats whilst they are with us!

You can contact us via email or phone or Facebook for updates and photos during our office hours:

8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Friday

9:00 am to 2:00 pm Saturday - Sunday

Cattery

Our Cattery units are built to MPI requirements using timber flooring and clear Perspex between each unit giving the cats a feeling of natural New Zealand light and space.

They are set up with a sleeping area up top and area on the bottom, with a jumping block so our furry felines can jump up and down. Up top, we provide heating pads under the bedding, so our all cats are cosy during their stay.

We spend a lot of time in the cattery with our quarantine cats as we understand that all our cats need stimulation, play time and lots of attention during their stay, like the dogs. Our dedicated staff are in the cattery throughout the day hanging out, playing or cuddling with the cats in their units.

Feeding

We feed our cats Royal Canin dry food, with a selection of wet foods including: Whiskas, Dine and Fancy Feast.

We understand that some cats may have special dietary requirements, we ask that you give us plenty of notice to arrange special diets as these may not be available in New Zealand and we may need time to source appropriate alternatives for your cats.

Vaccinations

We require all cats to have the following vaccinations no longer than 12 months or less than 14 days prior to their arrival into NZ:

  • Rhinotracheitis
  • Calicivirus
